Hey gang!
Do you want to know some fun and exciting things that are happening in Lisa Land?! What’s that? This isn’t an interactive blog so I can just pretend you are nodding your head in approval? Perfect!
Probably the most exciting thing happened yesterday, when I finally went to the drug store and bought a new bottle of shampoo after a week of painstakingly opening my shampoo bottle and rooting around for one tiny morsel of shampoo at a time, or hitting the bottle into my palm so hard every morning that I may have a permanent shampoo bottle ring embedded in my hand. For about 6 days now I have done this routine, said “holy crap just go to the store and buy a new bottle” and then forgot. So I’m really proud of myself for this amazing accomplishment. Go me! One step closer to adulthood!
Okay, that’s not really the most exciting part of my week, although it still ranks in the top five. The most exciting would have to be my interview with Anthony Germain on the St. John’s Morning Show for CBC Radio One. He interviewed me about my recent HelloGiggles article (which I will tell you about in a minute…calm down), asked me some questions about my blog and had a little chat with me about lupus. It was a really cool experience! It was so cool, in fact, that I’m about to share the interview with you. I pressed play on the recording of it long enough to hear the intro music start up and then I anxiously pounded on the “stop” button. I’m really weirded out when I hear my own voice on a recording so I refuse to listen to it. I will never forget the first time I heard what I sound like to other people. When I was a kid I used to be obsessed with memorizing elaborate funny poems and recording them as messages on our answering machine for all my poor family and friends who had the misfortune of calling while we were out. One day after recording a pretty epic and silly poem about all the places my family possibly could be, I decided to play it back. It was gross. I sounded horrible. And I’m sure that hasn’t changed, although I can’t know for certain because I refuse to listen to a recording of myself to find out. Okay, now that you have read a novel about answering machine messages, I will reward you with the interview.
The second most exciting update is that I was featured on The Lupus Foundation of America’s website! They shared the story of my diagnosis and it’s getting great feedback and opening up a nice dialogue about the importance of advocating for your own health (which makes me very happy)! They have also shared the stories of Ian Harding (who plays some hot english teacher on Pretty Little Liars) and Maurissa Tancharoen (Joss Whedon’s sis-in-law and co-creator of Agents of Shield). So I’m basically a celebrity now. No big deal.
Even more exciting news! HelloGiggles asked me to write an article to provide dating advice to twenty-somethings with chronic illness. So I did! And it was published last week! Here is the link.
Look out internet, I’m taking you by storm! Next stop – book deal! (exaggerating)
OTHER EXCITING THINGS ARE HAPPENING TOO! You aren’t done with me yet!
Tomorrow (April 25th) I will be attending a Family Fun Day with the Arthritis Society at Holiday Lanes. It’s from 3-5pm and it’s a GREAT opportunity for young people with arthritis and their families to meet one another as get paired up with some mentors who can help them navigate life with the disease. Such a cool idea, and a great way for local families to take advantage of the support that is there for them. Click HERE to find out more about the event and other resources available to you through the Arthritis Society of NL.
I tried curling last week! Canadian curler extraordinaire Courtney Barnhill invited Boyfriend and I to the St. John’s Curling Club to teach us the basics of the game and it was SO MUCH FUN. I feel like I could go pro already. There will be a new blog post about that in the coming week!
And local skincare provider Indigena recently gave me some fabulous products to try. I’ve spent the last month using them on the regular (people still say that, right?) so I have a blog post coming up next week all about how cool these LOCAL awesome products are. Spoiler alert: I won’t shut up about their Blueberry Bliss Sugar Scrub. It’s the best. Pamela even tried it on her lips and accidentally ate some of it and she not only DIDN’T die, but she thought it tasted pretty good. I probably shouldn’t be telling you to eat their products though. Please don’t eat skincare products. Please be smart enough to know they aren’t food.
So many things are happening in the life of Lisa M. Walters, Celebrity. It’s fun, exciting, and sort of exhausting. But at least I’m not too busy to binge watch Daredevil on Netflix while eating a giant bag of mini eggs. If there was no time left for Netflix and mini egg binges, I don’t know if I could keep blogging.
Okay, I’m going to shut up now. Thanks for reading all the way to the end. You’re such a trooper.

April 30, 2015 at 9:37 am (8 years ago)You’re so famous now!! I’m jealous. Haha. Another great post. I never tire of reading about your life, plus you making it funny and enticing to read so that helps too. Getting to the end doesn’t make me a trooper but maybe a stalker with too much interest in other peoples lives but that’s a whole other kettle of fish. I’m in town again this weekend, coffee date? I’ll text you.
